General procedure

 

-      you are allowed to use: T for Tessa, A for Adam, C for Cal, Z for Zoey, CH for chapter

 

-      tip: use as many phrases (from our vocabulary sheet) as possible / be careful with the tenses

A N A L Y S I S

Task 1: A special scene
Choose a scene from the book that you remember well.
a) Say why you chose this scene.
b) Describe the scene and write about:

  • What happens before and after? (Before this scene, ... / After that, ...)

  • Where and when does it take place? (The setting is ... / The atmosphere is ...)

  • Who is there? What do we learn about the people? (In this scene we meet ... / This character is ...)

  • How important is the scene in the book? (This scene is part of the ... in the story. It shows ...)

Task 2: A character from the book
Choose one character: Tessa / Adam / Zoey / Cal / Tessa’s dad.
a) Write about this character: Who is it? What do they do? (This character is ... / He or she is important because ...)
b) Write two character traits and explain them. Use a quote to support your idea. (He/She is ... because ... / A quote that shows this is: “...”)

Use the sentence starters to help you.

Task 3: Your reading experience
Write about your experience with the book.

Task 4: Your own list
Tessa has a list of things she wants to do before she dies. Write about five things you would put on your list. Please explain why.

Task 5: Feelings and loss
Explain the stages of grief (shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance). Then choose a character and show how they change.

Task 6: What do you think?
Choose one quote from the book. What does it mean? Do you agree?
